A century ago, Punjana Limited, the tea importer and blender, was beginning its life near the docklands in Belfast. Originally founded by McArthur and Willis, the Thompson family made their mark in 1896 when Robert Samuel Thompson became a partner.
Robert Samuel Thompson was joined in the post war years by James and Tony Thompson and today Ross and David Thompson carry on the traditional skill of tea tasting and blending in much the same way as has been done since the company was founded.
Robert Samuel Thompson originally entered the tea trade in 1887, and studied the art of tea tasting. He soon was made a partner in McArthur and Willis from 1896. He became known for his uncompromising devotion to quality and led the company for 51 years.
As the 20th Century progressed, the connection with the Thompson family was strengthened and in post-war years, James and Tony Thompson became partners in the company. They were responsible for the birth of the Punjana brand and developed it until they retired in the late 1980´s.
The joint managing directors of Punjana Limited, today carry on the traditional job of tea tasting and selecting the company´s teas, in much the same way as has been done since the company was founded in 1896.

A fine black tea for everyday enjoyment.
I first tried this teas while visiting in Ireland and staying at the Cuan in Strangford. This tea is phenominal, I ordered 8.8 pounds as soon as I got back to the states, and I used my brazillian coffee press to make this teas. It comes out so thick it looks like a golden brown coffee with creamer added. Pure perfect flavor and a delicious finish. This tea has just enough caffeine to pick you up but not so much that it results in a crash. This tea is truly worthy of being called the ass sweat of the most beautiful of goddesses. Get some, this stuff is the best tea on earth. Uses: Studying, Meditation, Pre-Workout, Relaxation (releases GABA in the body), & Provides mental clarity. I use it in conjecture with my intermittent fasting program and it makes it much easier to go through the fasting periods. Punjana is the best.

Very nice and rich
The tea is woody, earthy and very comforting, absolutely no bitterness, exactly what I like. Can't wait when Punjana Titanic in bags will be available.
Fairly balanced ok tea. Fine with milk and sugar. I will gladly drink it all, but don't think I will repurchase.
Rich, full body, fresh....my favorite tea ever!
This is a wonderful black tea full of flavor. I recommend the loose tea so you can put in the strength of the tea
I've been drinking tea for decades; I never acquired a taste for coffee. This is one of the best teas I've ever had, like how a cup of tea should actually taste. It's not weak or flowery nor biting or acidic--just a perfect blend of good strong tea. I should point out that this is loose tea, which is far superior to a tea bag anyway, so it will take a few seconds longer to make than using a tea bag.
My husband and I have a cup or two of tea every afternoon. We've been very happy with Punjana Loose Tea. It features large pieces of tea so there's no tea "dust" to wipe up every time we use it. And the flavor is just what we are looking for. We're also pleased with the excellent service teadog.com provides. Especially appreciated advice received via phone re tea choices.
