Ridgways has been blending tea since 1836, when Thomas Ridgway opened his first shop on King William Street in London - later appointed tea merchants to Queen Victoria and King George VI. Their Peppermint draws from several growing regions including Oregon in the United States, widely regarded as producing the finest peppermint in the world. The name peppermint comes from the Greek words Mentha and Piperata - a reference to the spicy, penetrating pungency of menthol that defines the plant.
