Brand History:
PG Tips, United Kingdom
England's Number 1 Tea

In 1869, tea dealer, Arthur Brooke, opened his first shop in Manchester, England, where he sold tea, coffee and sugar. Brooke's early slogan was good tea unites good company, exhilarates the spirits, opens the heart, banishes restraint from conversation and promote happiest purposes of social intercourse.

Arthur Brooke had so intertwined tea and British life that his company continued to prosper even after his death in 1918.

In 1930, PG Tips, sold only as loose tea, is one of the United Kingdom's top brands. The tea is still made in Manchester, England. Britons drink as astonishingly 150 million cups a tea daily. Thirty-five million of these cups are PG Tips tea, which Britons love, is at the center of the United Kingdom. After exchanging pleasantries upon a visit to the friend, the dialogue continues with, would you like a cup of tea.

In 1996, PG Tips introduced The Pyramid. Pyramid shaped tea bags were the result of 4 years of research and heralded the most original invention since the square tea bag. The new 3D shape provided as much as 50% more room for tea leaves to flow and infuse, thus delivering double the flavor.

In 2003, PG Tips launched Freeflow pyramid bags. The bags were developed using unique 'webbed' fibers that allow the water to reach the leaves faster. The material used for the new Freeflow bags is 50% more permeable than the older-style pyramid bags - making for a quicker brew.

In 2004, PG Tips decaf was launched. In Scotland, a blend of PG called Scottish Blend was designed for the soft waters of Scotland.

In 2005, PG Tips celebrated its 75th anniversary.

As an entrepreneur, Arthur Brooks was simply following his passion when be opened his tea shop. When he died at 49, his passion became a way of life. Countless words of joy have transpired among those who sip PG Tips.

Great tea and sustainable packaging

A great black tea.
As a very long-time tea drinker, I recently switched to loose leaf to try to minimize waste.
Most other brands package in vacuum sealed plastic or other non-recyclable material.
I really appreciate that this tea is packaged in recyclable/compostable paper - and that's on top of making a great cup of tea.
My daughter is a convert also.

PG Tips

You are the only one I will buy my tea from. It's always fresh, packed with care, and shipped quickly. I've ordered PG Tips from Amazon only to find the boxes of tea broken open because of poor packaging. Keep up the good work!!!

Makes the best cup of tea for my morning tea! PG Tips loose tea steeped in a Brown Betty teapot tastes like a real cup of tea.
