About This Tea

Nambarrie has been part of Northern Ireland's story since 1860, when they first began blending tea on York Street in Belfast. During the wartime bombing of 1941 their premises were destroyed - reportedly leaving only a horse-drawn delivery van intact. They rebuilt, and the blend has barely changed since. Now owned by Twinings, Nambarrie remains the number one tea in Northern Ireland and one of the most popular in Scotland.

A unique blend of Kenyan and Assam teas, specifically developed to complement Northern Ireland's naturally soft water. The Kenya brings strength and a rich, bright character, the Assam adds body and malt. Bold, full-bodied, and deeply satisfying - a tea that holds up completely to milk and still has character to spare. The kind of cup that has been passed down through generations of Northern Irish households.

If you enjoy Nambarrie, our Scotch and Abram's Irish Breakfast is our take on that same bold, full-bodied Irish character - strong, satisfying, and built to start the day.

How to brew the perfect cup
  1. Use freshly boiled water, not left to cool.
  2. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes depending on preferred strength.
  3. Add milk. This tea is built for it.
  4. A longer steep brings out the full Kenyan and Assam character.
How does it compare?

Barry's Master Blend is the closest Irish comparison - both are bold, full-bodied blends with a Kenyan and Assam backbone built for serious tea drinkers. Thompson's Irish Breakfast shares the same Northern Irish heritage and a similar robust character. Glengettie is the closest Welsh comparison - same bold, no-nonsense character blended for soft water.
