English Tea Shop sources their Darjeeling from the foothills of the Himalayas in India - the only place in the world where genuine Darjeeling can be grown. A protected geographical indication since 2004, real Darjeeling must come from the West Bengal district, which is what gives it a character no other region can replicate.
Teabags are organic, and individually wrapped.
Aromatic, floral, and distinctively light. The muscatel character - that subtle grape-like sweetness unique to Darjeeling - comes through cleanly in every cup. Less astringent than Assam or Ceylon, which makes it one of the few black teas that genuinely rewards drinking without milk. Best brewed at around 90°C rather than a full rolling boil to protect the delicate floral notes.
