Teapigs was founded in 2006 by two tea buyers who believed that most tea on the market was poor quality - too much dust, not enough leaf. Their Earl Grey Strong takes a different approach to the classic - instead of just bergamot over a standard black tea base, this is a blend of strong English breakfast tea and Darjeeling with bergamot, which gives it a fuller, more complex character than a standard Earl Grey. Whole leaf tea temples made from plant starch - biodegradable and built to give the leaves room to fully infuse.
The Darjeeling adds a delicate, floral complexity that lifts the bergamot rather than competing with it. The English breakfast base gives it enough body to take milk well - which sets it apart from most Earl Greys that are best drunk without. Strong, aromatic, and more interesting than a standard Earl Grey without losing the essential bergamot character.
If you enjoy Teapigs Earl Grey Strong, our Scotch and Abram's Earl Grey is our take on that same fragrant, bergamot-forward cup - smooth, refined, and aromatic.
