Miles West Country Original in a box of 80 Tea Bags

Miles Signature Tea, West Country Original is ideal any time of day, afternoon or evening. According to many tea drinkers, once you try this tea, it will become your favorite. To create this tea, Miles blends teas from Africa and India.

Although Miles West Country Original may be unfamiliar to many tea drinkers outside of England, it is a unique tea. When making its West Country Original, Miles starts with traditional methods of tasting a variety of teas and blending different teas to produce the tea special taste. Then, Miles add the latest manufacturing processes and packaging technology.

For the last 4 consecutive years, Miles is included in Best Brands magazine top 5 UK Tea & Coffee brands. For 2017, Miles is ranked number 2. This outranks all other UK tea companies.

Ingredients:
Tea leaves from India (Assam), and Africa.

Brand History:
Miles Tea
Minehead, Somerset, England

Today, Miles Tea is part of England's West Country, which is in the southwestern part of the country. Usually, the term includes the English counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, and Bristol.

Although the company is synonymous with Derek Miles, it actually started in 1888, when Henry Miles, Derek's grandfather, started Henry Miles & Co, a tea blending business in Birmingham, England.

In World War II, in 1941, the Miles Tea plant in Birmingham was bombed twice.

In 1951, current company head Derek Miles began his career in the tea business in London.

In 1961, Derek purchased a shop in the West Country and also worked as tea inspector.

In 1973, Derek purchased Henry Miles & Co and it became part of DJ Miles.

In 1996, tea production moved to its current home of Minehead, England.

In 2016, the company re-branded and became known as Miles Tea.

My Husband’s Favorite

We live in the U.S. My husband went home last year to care for his mother for the last few months of her life. While in Somerset, he fell in love with Miles West Country tea (he was also PG Tips loyal). He says it is smooth and just reminds him of Home. It is very difficult to find so thank goodness for Tea Dog so I can buy several boxes when we start to run low.

West County over Smugglers

I always enjoy West Country, which, to my taste, is much better than the Miles Smugglers Gold.
West Country is not quite so strong as the bold best of Thompson’s and Bewley’s. More like Barry’s black box and Yorkshire red.
West Country simply out-flavors PG Tips and Lyons, and it buries the supermarket brands including Lipton, Tetley and Bigelow.
I’ve tried 30 different blended blacks sold by Teadog, and is is one I keep buying. (And, for what it’s worth, West Country comes my favorite box.)

My Husband's Favorite

My English husband went home to care for his Mum with his sisters for 8 months. His mum lived in Somerset and she had this tea in their cupboard so my husband tried it, he's a PG Tips guy. He really liked it but, unfortunately, upon returning to the states... it was impossible to find. Teadog saved my life and I am able to surprise him with a new stock every now and again.

Just known as Miles tea in our house.

Always the best. Great to find a source in N America.
