Brand History:
Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company
Edinburgh, Scotland

This is directly from the company:

At Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company, our mission is straightforward. And that is to achieve quality, integrity and excellent customer service, without exception. Our core purpose is to support our clients in delivering quality, specialist beverages to the consumer. Our vision is to be Scotland's number one, specialty hot beverages supplier. We know we'll achieve this. We've seen it in the tea leaves.

The company goes back to 1812. Ships moved cargo from the New World directly into Edinburgh's port. Only the best tea arrived from across the world. The company started as an Edinburgh grocery selling spices and delicacies. The first store was started in Canongate, then the city center. Later, facilities at Princes Street and George Street, and a warehouse in Drummond Street were added.

In the beginning, the business focused on tea. The firm was the first merchant in Britain to import tea outside of London. The clipper Isabella arrived in Edinburgh's port in 1835. Known for quality, the company was selected in 1837 by Queen Victoria to provide tea and coffee to royals houses in Scotland.

Edinburgh Tea and Coffee continued to grow and expand. In 1921, the company moved wholesale and export to a larger operation in the city of Leith. The bigger facility allowed exports to grow quickly, especially after World War II.

The company expanded from just Eastern Europe before World War II to the rest of the globe after 1945. The retail stores remained successful until the 1960s. In November 1986, the company became part of Premier Brands. In 1991, a management buyout allowed the firm to be reborn as Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Limited.

Today, the company focuses on blending tea and roasting coffee. The company operates from Portobello, Scotland, Edinburgh seaside town.

Perfect with a little vanilla

I enjoyed this tea so much last year that I jumped right on it when I saw it was back in stock. I found that adding just a hint of vanilla to it really rounds it out beautifully.

Birthday Gift

My daughter had gotten the Edinburgh Heather loose tea when she visited Edinburgh a few years ago. She was sad that she was running out of it as it was among her favorites. A friend mentioned your company on Facebook so I thought I would see if you carried it. I was so happy that you did. It arrived in a manner time, especially considering the pandemic. She was so excited that you carried it. It's wonderful tea. Unfortunately, you are now out of it as I purchased your last two tins. Here's hoping you get more in. I've past on your company to other tea lovers. Thank you

Delicate and Delightful

I love this tea. It is very delicate, not like a breakfast tea but a subtle sipping tea. It is nearly impossible to find by other suppliers. Although I prefer the tea bags, it brews up lovely in my single cup infuser. Hope to be able to reorder when my stash runs low. Very quick and well packaged shipping.

Heather tea

Flavor is wonderful! The only thing I don't like is that it is chopped so fine that it leaves a sludge in the bottom of my pot life coffee grounds.

Smooth yet full bodied

Good full bodied taste, yet smooth and relaxing.
Will order again.
