Barry's Decaffeinated Tea in a Box of 80 Tea Bags

Barry's Decaffeinated is a refreshing blend of fine tea without the caffeine content of traditional teas.

Method Used to Decaffeinate the Tea:
Methylene Chloride

Did you know that even decaffeinated teas have a very small amount of caffeine? It's true.

Do you know how much caffeine is in a cup of regular tea? Most people are confused. Caffeine occurs naturally in coffee, tea and cocoa beans. It is added to cola to enhance flavor. Since black and green tea come from camellia sinensis, the tea plant, both contain caffeine.

On average, a cup of tea contains 1/3 the caffeine as a cup of coffee. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), an 8 ounce cup of coffee brewed with tap water has 137.7 milligrams of caffeine; an 8 ounce cup of tea brewed with tap water has 37.5 milligrams of caffeine; a 16 ounce cola has 49 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine levels in tea bags and loose tea are similar. The amount of time you steep the tea is the biggest factor in determining the level of caffeine.

Brand History:

Barry's Tea, Cork, Ireland

Barry's Tea has a long established reputation as Ireland's leading tea company. The company was founded in 1901 by James J. Barry. Since its inception, Barry's Tea was known for providing high quality tea. In 1934, Barry's Tea was awarded the Empire Cup for tea blending. Until the 1960's, Barry's Tea was sold mainly from a shop on Prince's Street in Cork, Ireland. Since then, Barry's Tea has expanded to include 30% of the Irish tea market.

To ensure you have a perfect cup of tea every time, Barry's Tea carefully selects tea from the best tea estates in the world. Barry's Tea is blended mainly from African teas with some Indian teas. Barry's Decaf

Best place to order tea because they have teas from all over the world. My orders have always beem filled correctly - and I order different teas as well as a couple of "standards" for myself. I love that I can get my favorite Irish teas so quickly. I ordered the decaf Barry's because, being of 100% Irish descent, I love Irish brands and my doctor had ordered me to use decaf. I wasn't sure that I'd like decaf tea but I do like it and will try other decaf brands when I next place an order.

Best Decaf

This decaf tea has a most refreshing and brisk flavor. I like to drink it after 3pm.

Too much tannin for me

Rather too harsh and tanniny for me. If you like the tannin of a Ceylon tea, you might like it.

Good flavor

Nice and malty.

Just what we were looking for

We decided to switch to decaf tea later in the day, and grocery store brands didn't cut it. We've been using Barry's regular tea for years and decided to try their decaf, and it works just great.
