Andrew Melrose, a key player in the development of the tea industry, founded the Melroses tea company in 1812. Following the collapse of the East Indian Companys monopoly in 1833 he was the first merchant to land tea in Britain, outside London. The Tea Clipper Isabella carried the shipment into Edinburgh in 1835, a historic moment which marked a change in the shape of the British trade forever. From its very beginning the Melroses name has been synonymous with quality and we are proud to be able to guarantee the same high standards today as Andrew Melrose insisted upon almost 200 years ago.

This is the way I like my black tea, smooth but with enough rigor to fight back through milk and land with tang on the tongue. Throw in a scone smeared with a sweet jam or a luscious fruit preserve and the conversation gets even more interesting.
I fell in love with Melrose tea last summer during my family's trip to Iceland. After drinking this tea for a week, when I came back to the states, no other tea tasted quite right . This is a strong (but not too strong) full-bodied Tea that tastes so smooth going down. I haven't been able to find it anywhere online (not even Amazon!). I am so happy to find it at Teadog.com. I will be re-ordering every month. :)
I first tasted Melrose Tea while visiting Iceland in 1979. it was such a wonderful tasting tea, but I could not find it stateside. So whenever I had friends or family go to Iceland, I 'd place an order. It's a robust yet pleasant tasting tea with just a flat teaspoon of sugar, no cream. Great with cheese and crackers and smoked Icelandic lamb.. Or by itself.
Melrose's delivers a consistently drinkable, rich and satisfying daily morning cup. I was pleased to find that my breakfast tea need not be harsh or bitter to be 'strong' as I like, or to have full flavor.
This tea is full-bodied with an almost malty round brew, and stands up to sugar and milk without any loss of its flavor notes or character - delicious! The cup won't let you down, even improving while it sits (as a fine tea should) during your teatime.
