Glengettie has been a favorite in Wales since 1952. Originally, it was sold as a strong cup of tea specifically for miners in Wales.

Glengettie Tea has been specially designed to complement the soft water of Wales. Welsh Teas closely resemble Irish teas, which are extremely popular with tea drinkers. Welsh Teas are blended for the soft waters of Wales. Welsh Teas are a blend of tea from Africa and India.

A good cup of tea always has been a traditional sign of hospitality in Wales. Glengettie is one of the two leading brands of tea in Wales. Boxes of Glengettie come with an English-language label on one side and Welsh-language on anotner side. With the slogan "A favorite in Wales for generations" Glengettie is known for its strength of flavor. Today, Glengettie is produced by the same company that makes Typhoo tea, a favorite English tea.

Distinctive flavor and high-quality has made Glengettie a traditional favorite in Wales.

    Strong Tea, strange aftertaste

The tea was a bit of a disappointment. I like all kinds of tea but this one will not be reordered. To each his own.

    Taste Test

Posted by Mrs. William Brown on Aug 10th 2016

Was very glad to get the free box of tea to try! I'd like to try every brand of loose tea and find the "best". This brand was not it. I've drunk PG Tips for years and made the pot with the same amount of tea as usual, but the Glengettie was almost tasteless to me. I WILL try it once more and have the family weigh in, but on first run it was not my cup of tea.

    Outstanding Tea

Posted by Steve on Aug 5th 2016

This is unquestionably the best "packaged" tea I've ever had. It has excellent flavor - smooth yet brisk, not very malty and even a hint of sweet. Hot it stands up very nicely to milk and iced add sweeter and lemon and you can still taste the fine flavor of the tea. I recommend the loose form so you can better control the brew - which for me is 1 tsp/cup for 4 minutes. Another brewing tip I've learned is to heat fresh water to just before the boiling point. Thank you Wales - you really know what it takes to make a great cuppa.

    the best cup of tea

Posted by Unknown on Apr 2nd 2016

We have been using Glengettie tea fro many years but in the past we have used the tea bags. We tried the loose tea and found this is the best tea ever. We have not found it to have any bitterness it is the smoothest cup ever. the benefit of the loose tea is we can make it the strength we want at the time. I will order again.

    Glengettie Loose Tea

Posted by BarbW on Mar 20th 2016

When ordering my "usuals" I often look for something new to try and this last order I included the Glengettie. It has proven to be a happy experiment. This is the first Welsh tea I have tried and I am so glad I did. It is more finely milled than the teas I usually buy and brews up very hearty and full-flavored. I am looking forward to sharing some samples with my tea-drinking friends.

    Glengettie Loose Tea

This is an excellent tea with a sweet tone to it. I mix it with the Scottish loose tea and it makes a great pot of tea. Good for the morning.

    A breakfast must

Posted by Owen Lind on May 21st 2013

As a Welshman I have been drinking Glengettie in the morning for years, but unless I carried it back to U. S. with me, have been using Teadog bags. Now delighted to have it loose-- makes a great tea even better.
