Brand History:
Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company
Edinburgh, Scotland

This is directly from the company:

At Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company, our mission is straightforward. And that is to achieve quality, integrity and excellent customer service, without exception. Our core purpose is to support our clients in delivering quality, specialist beverages to the consumer. Our vision is to be Scotland's number one, specialty hot beverages supplier. We know we'll achieve this. We've seen it in the tea leaves.

The company goes back to 1812. Ships moved cargo from the New World directly into Edinburgh's port. Only the best tea arrived from across the world. The company started as an Edinburgh grocery selling spices and delicacies. The first store was started in Canongate, then the city center. Later, facilities at Princes Street and George Street, and a warehouse in Drummond Street were added.

In the beginning, the business focused on tea. The firm was the first merchant in Britain to import tea outside of London. The clipper Isabella arrived in Edinburgh's port in 1835. Known for quality, the company was selected in 1837 by Queen Victoria to provide tea and coffee to royals houses in Scotland.

Edinburgh Tea and Coffee continued to grow and expand. In 1921, the company moved wholesale and export to a larger operation in the city of Leith. The bigger facility allowed exports to grow quickly, especially after World War II.

The company expanded from just Eastern Europe before World War II to the rest of the globe after 1945. The retail stores remained successful until the 1960s. In November 1986, the company became part of Premier Brands. In 1991, a management buyout allowed the firm to be reborn as Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Limited.

Today, the company focuses on blending tea and roasting coffee. The company operates from Portobello, Scotland, Edinburgh seaside town.

This might be the best tea ever...

A friend brought me back some of this tea from Scotland after she had visited there over the holidays. I enjoyed the tea SO MUCH I immediately went on-line to see if I could find it and order it myself. I found teadog.com and was able to obtain the product at a reasonable price. I continue to enjoy the wonderful, delicate taste of this tea on a daily basis.
