Did you forget their 255th birthday? March 13th was the birthday of Charles Grey, one of the most famous names in tea. The world's second most popular variety of tea is named after him. Grey was Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1830 to 1834. He was born in Northumberland, England in 1764.
Grey accomplished quite a few notable items while serving as Prime Minister. The most important being the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. Additionally, the great Reform Act of 1832, which is heralded as launching modern democracy in the UK, was passed.
Grey grew up in Howick Hall in the village of the same name. Today, you can visit his birthplace and go to the Earl Grey Tea Shop.
